“One thing we can count on in our field of learning and development is the continual evolution of ideas, models, and practices within our profession. This is evidenced by the change in the name of our organization in 2014 from ASTD to ATD (Association for Talent Development). As our world becomes more connected, and information more easily shared, the scope of learning and development continues to change.
At the national level, the ATD has paved the way for us by helping to raise the standards and prestige of the learning and development profession, and by building the foundation for our communities of practice. At the chapter level, our goal is to facilitate the exploration and implementation of these ideas in order to support those of you in our field who wish to grow professionally, and equally important, to do a better job at growing and developing others.
For those of you who are interested in supporting this objective, we encourage you to get involved by joining our board, volunteering for a committee, or by taking advantage of future opportunities to mentor.”
John has been a part of the ATD organization on and off for over 20 years. He believes that even if learning and development professionals do not have time to participate with ATD at the local level, they should strongly consider joining ATD National in order to benefit from its abundant content and resources.
